Start with what is free
We maintain a list of free textbooks and prep materials: open textbooks in biology, anatomy, chemistry, statistics, and economics, free course lectures, and open lab protocols. Check it before you spend anything. We pay for what the free list does not cover.
Why this matters
Labs assume a student arrives knowing the basics of the field and the vocabulary of its papers. Students who learned those at a well-funded school, or from a parent in science, have a head start. A book budget is a cheap way to close part of that distance.
For companies and foundations
Fund a student researcher
Your gift pays for rent, a stipend, books, or a journal fee. It goes to a student who has the position and lacks the money to take it.
